Meet the Headwaters Longevity Team

Longevity medicine gives me the privilege of building lasting relationships with my patients, which lets me care for the whole person: mind, body and spirit. I believe every person was created with a purpose, and that optimal health matters to living it.

I graduated from the University of Colorado in 1993 and then spent five years racing mountain bikes, working whatever jobs supported it and traveling a good deal of the world. Those years are still useful to me as a physician. At twenty-seven I was accepted to the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, graduated in 2002, and moved to Jacksonville for residency at the Mayo Clinic. Mayo taught me to be a doctor. The training did not end there, and I have gone on to build expertise in lifestyle, functional, regenerative and longevity medicine.

The years since have been spent mostly in the places where people arrive already in trouble. The operating room, emergency medicine at something like a hundred patients a day, the intensive care unit, years of correctional medicine, and then twelve years of primary care with the same families coming back every season. Thousands of people have sat across from me. I think that is the part of my training that matters most in this work.

It also showed me the limits of the model. My mission now is to build a team and a system that treats the root causes of dysfunction rather than the symptoms, and to give patients an alternative to a broken, one-size-fits-all approach. A holistic, root-cause approach, drawing on allopathic, naturopathic, functional and regenerative medicine, gives people a real chance to take control of their health. No man is an island, so we work hard at building health communities around that.

My faith is worth mentioning plainly. I believe I will answer to God for how I live and how I treat people, and I hold myself to a standard of excellence because I am serving my patients as if I were serving the King Himself. The spiritual side of health is under-appreciated in most modern practice, and I think the best outcomes come when it is cared for too. It is a personal matter, and I do not press it on anyone.

Simeon is usually the first person you speak to and the person you speak to most. He takes the initial call, sets up the baseline visit, and keeps the plan moving through the months between appointments.

He holds a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and spent time in agency work before this. He does not diagnose or treat. He coordinates, he follows up, and he makes sure the things Dr. Nields asked for happen.
